FAQ

Got Questions? We Have Answers.

Everything parents need to know about setup, safety, and privacy.

Why does the child app need Accessibility permission?
+
The Accessibility permission is what allows familyFence to detect which apps are open on the child's device and enforce your parental control rules in real time. Without it, the app cannot apply screen time limits or block apps. This permission is used only for parental control โ€” we never read messages, passwords, or personal data.
Is the VPN connection secure and private?
+
Yes. familyFence uses a local VPN that runs entirely on the child's device. No internet traffic is routed through external servers. The VPN only filters websites according to your rules โ€” your child's browsing data never leaves their device or gets stored on our servers.
Can my child remove the familyFence app?
+
No. familyFence uses Device Administrator privileges and overlay protection to prevent uninstallation. If a child tries to remove the app, a parent password is required. The app also automatically restarts if force-stopped.
What happens if permissions are disabled?
+
If any required permission is disabled, familyFence immediately alerts you via the Parent App and shows a permission prompt on the child's device. Until permissions are restored, the app enters restricted mode which limits what the child can do.
Is familyFence safe? Does it collect my child's data?
+
Depending on the features an authorized guardian enables, familyFence may process app-usage times, device location, device status, and blocked-content events. familyFence does not need access to personal photos or files for the parental-control features described on this site. See the Privacy Policy for collection, use, retention, and request details.
Does familyFence work on iPhone / iOS?
+
Yes. familyFence supports both Android and iOS family devices. Some setup prompts and permission names differ by platform, but the parent dashboard, subscription, screen time tools, alerts, and family safety controls are designed for both ecosystems.
How much does familyFence cost after the trial?
+
familyFence has annual plans for 1, 3, or 5 child devices. Starter is $12.00/year, Family is $22.00/year, and Super Family is $30.00/year after the 3-day free trial.
How do I cancel or get billing help?
+
Contact support@familyfence.site or use live chat with your account email and plan name. We can help with cancellation, renewal, refund, and subscription access questions. Refund requests must be made within 14 calendar days from the transaction date.
